About

This community is for posting whitestar's graphics. This is also an NC-17 graphic posting community. I will sometimes be posting graphics that is appropriate for people who are 18 years or over in your state or country. Please don't apply for membership if you don't meet that important criteria or you have objections to that kind of material.

A little about my icon making background. This graphics journal all came about because I wanted to have a place to post my Babylon 5 icons. I've branched out into my other favorite fandom, Harry Potter and have recently added adult icons and singer Adam Lambert to the mix. I also periodically make offerings for icons to have them labeled or tagged with your name. In the future I will be offering Friends Only Banners.

I use PSP9 and AS3 for making my graphics. Before that I used Arcsoft and Microsoft Paint. I'll be posting all the icons and other graphics I've made here - good, bad and indifferent. I'll also post them in the order I made them, so that you'll see the gradual changes in my icons over time. You'll also be able to see my learning process as I move from using Arcsoft to PSP9.

How I'll be running the community is that all my Icon postings, Resources and Awards posts will be "Friends Only". You'll need to join the community to see those postings. The Introductory post will continue to remain open.

Please read the Rules before joining the community

Community Rules

* In order to see my graphics, you must Join and Friend polarisgraphics.

* You can request icons with your user name, or real life name. Children's or pet's names are OK, as long as the graphic is used on Live Journal and Insane Journal only. If you use the graphic on Insane Journal, please credit the the graphic to polarisgraphics on Live Journal. Please don't ask me to make any items for your friends, because I won't make them. If friends want any of the offerings I make, please suggest they join this community.

* Currently my graphics are to remain on Live Journal and Insane Journal ONLY. DO NOT take any of them to other blogging journals/sites etc., other than Live Journal and Insane Journal. I may change my mind at a later date about this, but for right now those are the only two sites I want my graphics on.

* If you need to contact me, please make a comment in the introductory post here

* DO NOT alter, customize, redistribute, or claim as your own any of the graphics.

* Icons without text are not necessarily bases, they might be silent/hush icons. I will label which posts are bases so you know which ones you can customize. If you'd like something that I made customized, ask.

* Credit polarisgraphics or whitestar in your user pic comments when you take anything. Most of the time I want credit for the icons I create. I ask for credit because it takes me quite a long time to make the icons. Also because it helps others see from what community the graphics came from :) I probably won't ask for credit on bases. In that case, it's nice to be credited for the bases but not necessary since I'd only be cropping them.

* Comment if you take anything. Comments also help me know what icon styles and images you like.

* NO HOTLINKING! - It's E-V-I-L. Here's a great post to explain what hotlinking is and to help you figure out if you're doing it: http://rupiconic.livejournal.com/2706.html

If you need a place to upload your icons, you can get a free account at Photobucket. Or if you need information and help on how to save icons to your computer, I'll write something up to tell you how. It's actually quite simple :)

* The following rule seems like common sense. I didn't want to post this and I didn't think I'd have to make a comment about this, yet it seems I do. Use your manners. Please and thank you's aren't difficult. I enjoy making icons. However, when there's no sign of appreciation I don't want to continue making anything for the person who takes for granted the items I make without any sign of acknowlegement or appreciation.

* I'd prefer it if you don't give out anything I create to anyone. If they like something that you're using that I've made, send them to this community. If you decide that you have to give out one of my icons to someone, then it'll be up to you to take the responsibility to be sure that the person credit me or the community correctly. That means checking their icon images for proper credit, and telling me who you gave it to. If that's too much responsibility, then don't share the icon.

* As long as this community remains small, I have no problems with anyone requesting everything I make, as long as you use them.

* And finally, if you find that I haven't accepted you into the community, it's probably because of one of these reasons:
1) I've seen you in other communities, and other makers are always reminding you to
pick up your items, and/or you don't use them.
2) I've seen you cause "Drama" in communities.
3) You belong to a graphics stealing community.
4) You don't credit icon makers or communities.
5) Or if you never got a response - it's highly likely I completely missed your
request to join. I get lots of email and miss some every once in awhile. If you
believe I may have done that, and none of the first four reasons applies to you,
then please reapply again if you'd like :)

I'll be updating this About Me page in the future
